Project Overview
Canteen 310 is a high-traffic hospitality venue located on Portobello Road, one of London’s busiest and most logistically constrained streets. The project required a flooring solution capable of delivering a refined concrete aesthetic while performing under the demands of continuous daily use across dining and bar areas.
A total of 127 m² was installed using a microcement system, selected to transform the existing substrate into a seamless, contemporary surface without increasing floor build-up. The material needed to integrate with the interior scheme while providing long-term durability in a fast-paced commercial environment.
The Brief
The project required a flooring solution that balanced aesthetics, durability, and programme constraints.
Key requirements included:
127 m² of continuous flooring across dining and bar areas
Application over existing substrate with minimal build-up
A refined concrete aesthetic aligned with the interior palette
High durability suitable for constant foot traffic and service use
Fast installation to meet programme deadlines
Delivery within a logistically restricted central London location
Efficiency and coordination were critical to avoid disruption to the wider construction schedule.
The Solution
We installed 127 m² of Nuvolato Architop in a Cenere finish, delivering a seamless microcement surface across the entire ground floor.
The ultra-thin system allowed the existing substrate to be retained, eliminating the need for structural alterations while achieving a consistent concrete appearance throughout the space.
The Cenere tone was selected to complement the restaurant’s material palette, providing a neutral yet defined surface that supports the overall interior design.
All works were carefully sequenced to align with the contractor’s programme, ensuring installation could be completed efficiently within the required timeframe.
The project required detailed logistical planning and precise execution due to both site constraints and programme requirements.
Key considerations included:
Managing material deliveries and equipment access on Portobello Road
Coordinating works within restricted access times in a high-traffic urban environment
Preparation of the existing substrate to ensure adhesion and uniform finish
Application of an ultra-thin system while maintaining surface consistency
Rapid curing and sealing processes to meet the five-day installation programme
Each stage was tightly controlled to ensure quality was maintained despite the accelerated timeline.
Technical Considerations
Each stage was carefully planned and executed to ensure the final surface met both the aesthetic vision and the practical demands of the home.

The Result
The completed installation provides a seamless, durable surface capable of supporting the operational demands of a busy restaurant environment.
The Nuvolato Architop finish establishes a clean, contemporary material language throughout the space while maintaining practical performance in high-use areas.
The project demonstrates how ultra-thin concrete systems can deliver both architectural clarity and installation efficiency, particularly within constrained urban sites and time-sensitive commercial programmes.
